About Us Print E-mail
In a time when pop culture has become the new cult, being in has never been so out. August Magazine pops the bubble of culture, deciphering and distinguishing the good and the bad from the ugly. Or something like that. Actually we focus on new artists musicians, photographers, painters, film makers to bring you the kernel of creativity.

August Magazine

Originally published as August Surfing, the magazine has gone through a myriad of fazes. From surfing and summer living to music and pop culture, the one constant is the witty editorial style that has defamed and delighted its subjects. Making sure its readers could cut through the fluff and egos has always been a big part of what makes August so hot.

Now in a new stage of its life, August is being published as a rich-media PDF. This allows us to dedicate the pages a story needs without having to worry about the overwhelming costs of paper and ink. It will also give our readers a chance to connect with what they are reading much quicker. Youll still be able to read it in the bathroom. The only difference will be youll have to print it first.

Contributors

If you are interested in contributing to August, read it first. We will only take queries and wont read any submissions without it. We are actively seeking interviews and photo essays that portray a narrative. Our stories are about deciphering the pretense in music, film, fashion and other arts. We also talk about enjoying life on tight budgets, problems in politics and doing things for yourself. Its a mix of Esquire and Creem (circa 1960-1970), Ready Made (circa 2000), Bikini (circa 1990) and Playboy (circa whenever but just for the articles).
